Pre-Drywall Matterport Scanning

Capture what’s behind the walls before drywall—framing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC routes, and rough-ins— in one interactive 3D record you can reference for years. Ideal for builders, remodels, and homeowners who want peace of mind.

Why pre-drywall scans are worth it

  • Know what’s behind every wall: quickly locate plumbing, wiring, venting, and blocking later—without guessing.
  • Save time during upgrades: faster planning for new lights, speakers, security, cabinetry, TV mounts, and built-ins.
  • Reduce risk in remodels: minimize accidental cuts into lines and avoid “exploratory” drywall work.
  • Verify rough-in work: keep a clear record of placement before it’s covered up.
  • Document changes & add-ons: perfect when plans shift mid-build—your record stays accurate.
  • Helpful for future owners: adds real value when selling, especially for custom homes.

What we capture

A pre-drywall scan is not just “photos.” It’s an interactive 3D walkthrough you can revisit room-by-room. We scan framing and rough-in stages so you can visually reference:

  • Electrical: outlets, switches, panel routes, can lights, fan boxes, low-voltage, speaker wiring
  • Plumbing: supply lines, drains, vent stacks, shower valves, cleanouts
  • HVAC: duct paths, returns, vents, air handler placement, chases
  • Structure: studs, beams, headers, trusses, shear walls, blocking, niches
  • Special systems: security, data, home automation, camera wiring, central vac

Best times to scan

  • After rough-ins: when plumbing/electrical/HVAC are installed and visible.
  • Before insulation: clean sight lines and easy access.
  • Before drywall: the final “everything is visible” moment.

Our cameras

We use the Matterport® Pro2—the gold standard for 3D capture—delivering excellent dimensional accuracy and image quality. Accurate within 1%.

For larger projects, complex spaces, and bright conditions, we also use the Matterport® Pro3 LiDAR camera, allowing both inside and outside scanning in bright sunlight—ideal for large properties up to 130,000 sq ft (and even larger).
